Choosing an engagement ring is a personal decision that should come naturally. Each engagement ring is unique. You may decide to choose a round diamond, a pear cut, or possibly an emerald cut diamond as the center for your setting. Each ring will have a character and feel to it that should suit you, your fiance, and reflect your relationship.
Why Round Shape Diamonds are Most Popular

Diamonds that are round are very classic, and that is likely why they are still the most popular shape for many people. They’ve been around for a long time and they’ve remained popular no matter what other diamond cuts have appeared. Not everyone wants a round diamond, of course, but when people think of diamond rings – and specifically engagement rings – round diamonds are usually what comes to their minds.
There is something about the classic and timeless simplicity of the round shape that draws people to them and makes them want these kinds of diamonds. They also go with everything and it’s difficult to find a person who does not like them. They are used not just for rings, but for necklaces and earrings as well, and most jewelers stock a wide assortment of them because they know that they sell.
They also have a beautiful sparkle and catch the light wonderfully, which is what most people look for in a diamond. The round shape will likely remain popular for a very long time to come.

i think the round shape for jewelries, particularly for rings, was made popular due to its symbolical meaning of eternity or never-ending love. that’s why the traditional wedding bands are made without a stone or if stones would be included, they would have to be placed all around the band to maintain continuity. as a circle has no beginning and no end, it has become a popular shape for jewelries that are meant to represent love. in our country, it is believed that wedding rings which have stones not set around the ring but on one part or certain parts only would mean that the couple will eventually have a broken marriage. i don’t believe on it though but my husband and I just followed our tradition and bought a pair of simple wedding band with small diamond stones all over the ring for us to wear and to represent our love for one another.
