What to do if you Hate your Engagement Ring

You’re engaged! How exciting! The only problem is that you wince every time you look at your ring. What do you do if you hate it? You don’t want to hurt his feelings, but you also don’t want to go through the rest of your life wearing this terrible-looking piece of jewelry.

You really need to be honest – nicely – with him. He’ll understand. He was stressed about asking you to marry him, and you said yes, and now that pressure is off. It’s wise to wait a few days, and then ask him honestly about whether the ring can be exchanged for one that you feel is better suited to her hand or the style that you’re looking for. Sometimes beautiful rings just don’t look right on a person’s hand, depending on the size and the shape of the ring, and the hand.

Not telling him the truth if you don’t like your engagement ring, will not make you happy, and when he finds out months or years later, he’ll wonder why you didn’t tell him the truth. Honestly really is the best policy.
