Choose an Engagement Ring that is Right for You
Choosing an engagement ring is a personal decision that should come naturally. Each engagement ring is unique. You may decide to choose a round diamond, a pear cut, or possibly an emerald cut diamond as the center for your setting. Each ring will have a character and feel to it that should suit you, your fiance, and reflect your relationship.
In the past, only women received engagement rings. However, that’s starting to change. There is a growing movement toward offering men’s engagement rings, too.
These rings sometimes have designs or stones in them, but most are more plain, similar to wedding bands. There are some that match with wedding bands, and some that match with the woman’s engagement ring. Most of these are sold on the Internet and you don’t see that many of them in jewelry stores, but that will probably change as the idea of them become more popular.
Many men don’t even wear a ring when they get married, but a lot of them do, and they might want a ring to show that they are committed to someone before they get married, too. Since women get to do it, there isn’t any reason why men shouldn’t have that opportunity, too. When you’re picking out a men’s engagement ring, make sure you get one that can be soldered to the wedding band like a women’s engagement ring so that he can continue to wear it after the wedding if he wants to.

I have never heard of a man getting an engagement ring, this is a cool idea however, in this economy adding another expense to your engagement/wedding might not be the best idea.
